L A Aluminum Casting Company in Hayden, Idaho won Honorable Mention in the American Foundry Society Casting Contest this year. The contest was very competitive this year with over 100 entrants. L A Aluminum entered an alternative energy product they have been manufacturing for 8 years. The product is the tail fin for a 1000 watt wind turbine for Southwest Windpower.
American Foundry Society will feature the tail fin in their May issue. They also want to do a feature article about L A Aluminum and Southwest Windpower. The partnership formed between the two companies 8 years ago was very progressive. Very few foundries have been working on wind energy products, and no one else in Idaho has been involved in 1000 watt wind turbine manufacturing for that long.
Southwest Windpower is the nation's foremost small wind turbine manufacturing company. The average Skystream turbine installation from Southwest Windpower costs $15,000, but now such systems could qualify for $10,500 in federal tax reductions and utility incentives making wind generators more affordable.
Southwest Windpower recently received 10 million in investment capital to increase their international markets in China and Germany. They already sell to 1000's of retailers in the United States and Canada.
