L A Aluminum Casting Company in Hayden, Idaho is having a record breaking year. In July 2008, the permanent mold aluminum casting company shipped more castings than ever before in their 61 years of business operations. Profit margins are also higher than ever before. The company is on target to attain the 20-25% growth projected by Michelle Richter their Sales and Marketing Manager. Michelle predicts sales will grow by at least 20% for each of the next three years.
The two markets which are stimulating growth for L A Aluminum are military fittings and dental products. The company is participating in a $400,000,000 federal contract, and signed on with another at the end of July worth 3 times that amount. Both contracts will run for five years through the Department of Defense.
L A Aluminum is reinvesting some of their profits into new vertical milling machines and possibly another turning center. All of the new machines will be 5th axis capable. The machine shop is where a lot of opportunity will be reinvested. They plan to completely revitalize the machine shop setting up lean cells for specific product flow through the factory.
The company is actively hiring a Tool Maker, a Process Engineer, and 1-2 Machinists to help implement the growth. There are at least 30 new tools the company will either build or modify within the next 6 months. Once that tooling is in production, 25% growth may be a conservative number.
L A Aluminum has been in business for over 60 years. They are a turnkey permanent mold aluminum foundry making castings for the OEM market primarily. They are a full-service foundry and CNC machine shop with 4th & 5th- axis machining capabilities.
L A Aluminum has always made castings for the military. They specialize in making complex castings from .05 ounces to 80 lbs. They make castings for a variety of industries, including wind power turbines, the nuclear industry, and dental equipment. Powder coating, anodizing, alodining, and assembly are offered on all products.
